Biography

My personal educational background is in Chemistry, but after leaving university I pursued a career as a banker until I came to Abertay in 1995. During my time at the bank I completed my professional examinations thereby gaining the qualification of Member of the Chartered Institute Of Bankers In Scotland (MCIBS). I was a Personal Banking Manager, my main areas of work being in personal finance and small business borrowing. Whilst still working for the bank, I became a part-time lecturer in banking at Aberdeen College teaching the finance of international trade. After a while I realised I preferred teaching to banking, and a change of career was on the cards! My main subject interests are in banking and finance, particularly consumer finance and  international finance. I am also passionate about teaching and learning, particularly in improving the student learning experience. To that end some of my modules contain interesting and unusual integrated assessments. I have previously served as Chair of Dundee Business School Teaching & Learning Committee, and have been a member of the School Executive Board and the University's Quality Enhancement Committee. I have also participated in a number of teaching and learning projects over the last few years and was the lead person involved in drafting the previous DBS Teaching & Learning Plan. Presently, I am the Advisor Of Studies in DBS.
