Biography

I am the Academic Curriculum Manager in the School of Science, Engineering and Technology. In addition, I am the vice-chair of the School Academic Committee and I am the Equality and Diversity Advisor for the School. My teaching and research interests are in the field of fluid mechanics, hydraulics, risk assessment and management, and environmental management and modelling. I teach at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and facilitate teaching and learning workshops for teaching practitioners. I have successfully supervised 11 PhD and 3 MPhil students, and 2 research fellows. I am currently supervising 1 PhD student. I play a pivotal role in enhancing students’ learning experience in the School of Science, Engineering and Technology and in Abertay University.

In my role, I work with the Head of School and manage the School’s portfolio of academic programmes, implementing, and assisting staff in applying efficient quality enhancement, quality assurance, and teaching, learning and assessment (TLA) processes, and facilitate cross-university academic delivery and appropriate student choice regarding areas of study. In 2011/12, I co-authored the University's Enhancement Led Institutional Review (ELIR) Reflective Analysis, with responsibility for writing Section 4 of the reflective analysis. I additionally have experience of conducting academic quality reviews, internally and externally.

As part of contributing to the wider University, I am a member of the University Senate and the University Teaching and Learning Committee, where I contribute to formulation of policies and strategies and decision making at the University level.
