Biography

I am a lecturer in business research and statistics.

I hold a BSc in Mathematics and a PhD in Management Science which focused on Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis under uncertainty, both from the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow Scotland).

My career began with research positions at the University of Strathclyde, the Belgian Nuclear Energy Research Centre and the Technical University of Helsinki.

Prior to returning to academia in 2013, I worked in criminal justice and law enforcement, as Research and Training Manager for the Risk Management Authority and as Senior Intelligence Analyst and Deputy Principal Analyst for Police Scotland..

Currently, my research interests include energy security, barriers and enablers to the promotion and diffusion of clean energy in resource-rich countries and in particular transitional nations. I am also interested in the sustainable development of transitional nations and the role of social enterpreneurship.

My teaching expertise includes the broad areas of quantitative data analysis/statistics, business analytics and decision analysis.

I am Module Leader for the following modules:

Business Analytics

Introduction to Finance and Statistics

I also provide advice on research methodology to final year undergraduate students working on their dissertations and to MSc students working on their theses.

My research interests focus on energy security and energy policy and governance in resource-rich countries with particular focus on transitional nations as well as on the water-energy-food nexus. I am also interested in the sustainable development of transitional economies and the role of social enterpreneurship.

I was the second supervisor of Dr Masud Bala who successfully defended his PhD thesis in 2015.  He investigated the effects of the adoption of the International Reporting Standards on the financial reporting of Nigerian listed oil and gas companies.
