Incholm Project

Two men found refuge on an island. You accompany them on their journeys of atonement, as you discover the islands and their stories.

Two men found refuge on an island. You accompany them on their journeys of atonement and, as you walk alongside them, you discover the islands, their stories and perhaps find yourself making peace as you go along.

In October 2016, a site-specific promenade performance and a video game were staged together on Inchcolm Island, in the Firth of Forth. What brought them together was the island and underlining themes of refuge, guilt and dealing with loss. The performance was a live action adaptation of Dear Esther (The Chinese Room, 2012) that took audiences on a journey around the island. As they explore and try to piece out the story, they stumble upon enigmatic audio logs, visual installations and ghosts of islands past.
