Yes. You can apply with the same team or a new team. However, you can’t submit your previous project – it must be a new one.
Hot-housing will be a four-week period during the summer where the six finalist teams will be mentored by people from the games industry. They’ll pass on invaluable experience and knowledge to contribute to your game. There will be several workshops you’ll be required to attend, all of which will help you bring your project to life.
What you put in the video pitch is entirely up to you and your team. There are no set guidelines. It’s over to you to explain and sell your game idea to the judging panel so they can best understand it. Remember, judges will be watching a lot of videos so make sure you do something creative and informative!
The closing date for all applications is strictly 23/04/2018 at 11.59pm. We have to be fair and ensure that no one has more time to apply than anyone else. You can find out all useful timelines regarding Dare by clicking here. This includes all of the essential dates during the competition.
Judges will shortlist a number of teams to present their game. You’ll be notified in advance if you have made this stage of the competition. At least two representatives of your team will be required to participate in the pitch. That said, participation by all (or as many as possible) of your team would be a clear indicator to the judges that you are committed to the project and the competition.
You can bring a game idea or concept that you developed during a game jam as part of your Abertay degree, but actual game development mustn’t be started before June 2018
