The Lothian Family scholarship was gifted to the University by Abertay graduate, honorary fellow and supporter, Andi Lothian Sr.
The scholarship aims to support students that experience financial difficulties when they take up their place at Abertay. Andi and his family feel strongly about supporting students who find themselves in this position.
It is a joy to be able to support an organisation that is amongst the best in the world and support students in their education.
Andi Lothian Sr.
The scholarship supports two Abertay students per year with each student receiving £5,000 over the course of their undergraduate studies.
This scholarship is a life line. While the monetary input is vital to my continued study, the fact there is a donor out there that has the belief and commitment to help people achieve their dreams is very humbling and uplifting.
William Murphy LLB (Hons) Law
The scholarship was created in memory of his late father Andy Lothian – a gold medal violinist and bandleader at the former Dundee Palais from 1938 -1974.
As well as providing a scholarship, the Lothian family have supported the University for a number of years and annually award the Lothian Family Prize to students from each of the four academic schools. Recipients of the the Lothian Family Prize have demonstrated the greatest positive impact within their school.
The scholarship is open to anyone applying to one of Abertay’s full-time undergraduate programmes.
The Lothian Family scholarship have lightened my financial burden, which has allowed me to focus more on the important aspect of university, which is learning.
