It varies quite a lot! I work for CR Smith and my team’s involved with the brochures and price packs, which are given out to customers. We’re also involved with incentives for sales staff, so that involves arranging and organising prizes.
We have a sales meeting at the end of every month, so we arrange that. It’s a mix of design and marketing.
It’s a very fast paced job!
When I was at Abertay, I was working with a sign design company one day each week. When I finished my course they offered me a full-time position. I accepted that and I worked there for around 3 years.
I felt like I’d done as much as I could within the sign industry, although I was still enjoying it. I started looking for something new and I’d always been interested in the marketing side of things. I had a look online and when my current job came up I just decided to go for it.
Abertay is a great university. It’s definitely somewhere I’m proud to say I went to.Kathryn Main | CR Smith | Marketing Executive
I would say my tutor David Lyons. He probably had the biggest impact on me and what I learned.

Work hard but enjoy yourself at the same time. When you get a real job you have a lot less spare time!
