I am currently a Digital Marketing Executive at McGarry Fashion, specialising in Paid Search. We are a small start-up company dealing with global clients. I manage my clients' online advertising with Google and its partner sites. All our clients (with the exception of one) are based internationally, so travelling to meet them is a part of my job. I love to travel so it is just an added bonus.
My degree helped me to decide what career I really wanted to pursue. It introduced me to various business areas so I could evaluate what I am really passionate about. I really liked my modules, including corporate strategy and business processes, but marketing is my passion.
My degree gave me the qualifications needed for my role, but it was the extra-curricular activities that I participated in that made me stand out to my employer.
It was definitely the Entrepreneurial Brains Made On Campus (EBMC) competition. My team won the local heats at Abertay and we got to compete with other European countries in the finals held in Stuttgart, Germany.
We met so many people and had a lot of fun with all of the activities. I got interviewed for Hochschule der Medien, the host University’s webcast about the competition so I had my few minutes of fame. To top it up, we won 1st runner up and was voted the Audience's Favourite for the competition.
