Professor in Cyber Security, Karen Renaud, will explore two dimensions of the existing cyber security mind-set, including the idea that the computer user is 'intransigent, stupid and lazy'.
In doing so, Professor Renaud will present some explanations for the difficulties the person in the street experiences when it comes to cyber security, and discuss research that seeks to ameliorate these.
The lecture will also explore the present-day blame culture that is evident whenever a cyber security incident occurs. This will involve considerations of the roots of such behaviour in the concept of individual accountability.
The lecture is free and open to the public and will be followed by a drinks reception.
