VIDEO: Charged Hearts game jam21 September 2015
What happened when students spent a weekend making new games, inspired by a long-lost game and a new art exhibition about the human heart?
The students were challenged to respond to the Hearts exhibition and a web-based game by Catherine Richards and Martin Snelgrove called Charged Hearts (1996).
Charged Hearts examined the relationships of physics, emotion and communications technologies of the time.
Unfortunately, through obsolescence of technology and software, the game has been lost.
However, through conversations between the co-curators, the idea was formed to revive and reimagine it, so the exhibition hosted a live game jam, where teams and individuals were invited to take inspiration from the game and create new interactive artworks which further speculate about the mediation of emotion by technologies.
