European business challenge for Abertay students
Students from Abertay University this week took part in the European Business Masters Cup (EBMC) for the fifth year running.
Abertay welcomed Dr Hartmut Rösch and Johanna Kutte from Stuttgart Media University, who ran a two-day practical business simulation over Thursday 23 and Friday 24 January.
This year there are 26 Abertay students participating in the competition, 20 studying in Dundee Business School, one from Game Design & Production Management, and five students on the Abertay Business Administration programme at Fife College.
The winning team from Abertay will join teams from Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Stuttgart Media University, Birmingham City University and Budapest College of Communication and Business at the finals in Stuttgart in February 2014.
The Abertay students are the only Scottish team to take part in the competition.
Helen Smith, Associate Director Teaching Innovation and Lecturer in Accounting at Abertay, said: “This is a fantastic experience for our students. The EBMC allows students the opportunity to cope with complex decision making in uncertain environments.
“They are able to apply their learning to simulated, real world situations and also to demonstrate their creativity in a variety of additional tasks associated with the challenge.”
Dr Hartmut Rösch from Stuttgart Media University said: “Each year we are impressed with the high motivation and strategic skills of the students of Abertay University.
“A profound business knowledge, good planning skills and a lot of creative ideas makes the EBMC preliminary round very exciting and interesting for us.”
