Covid Testing

Covid Testing

There are now various ways to get tested for Covid-19 in the local area to help protect the local community. Which test you book will depend on whether or not you have symptoms.

University of Dundee Asymptomatic Test Centre (no symptoms)

The Covid-19 Asymptomatic Test Centre at the University of Dundee is now offering regular testing to Abertay staff and students who are permitted to work/study from campus and do not have symptoms. These students and staff can book in for testing on Tuesdays and Fridays via the online registration page.

This free testing is entirely voluntary and data/results are not shared with the University. The test centre uses Lateral Flow Devices (LFD) and is located within the University of Dundee’s Institute of Sport & Exercise on Old Hawkhill.

You should take a smartphone when you attend for a test in order to complete online registration and results will be provided by text/email within one hour. If you do not have a phone you will be provided with IT on site. Please also take your staff/student card.

If you have a positive LFD test you will be referred for a confirmatory PCR test.

If you feel you have symptoms of Covid-19, you should not attend the Asymptomatic Test Centre, but must book a PCR test immediately through the normal NHS Inform route.

Walk-in NHS Tayside community testing (no symptoms)

Students and staff who do not have symptoms can also access the NHS Tayside community testing programme.

These self-administered PCR swab tests will be available on a walk-in basis from three mobile testing vans which will visit a range of locations in Angus, Dundee and Perth & Kinross each week.

The sites will be open from 10am until 4pm in Dundee and Perth & Kinross and 10.30am until 4pm in Angus and there is no need to book an appointment.

Anyone who receives a positive PCR test result will be asked to self-isolate, with support available including food packages and financial support.

Visit the Tayside Cares page or the Covid Tayside NHS page for more information and the weekly rota of locations.
