Our Year 2019
A special year in our history

2019 was a special year in the history of Abertay, marking 25 years of our University status. 

The 'Abertay 25' series of events were rolled out across the year to celebrate the milestone, including an alumni speaker event, professorial lectures, an exhibition of archive materials, public engagement, press and social media activity, and a celebration for current and former staff. But it wasn't all about history. Particular highlights include:

• Being ranked in the UK top 10 for teaching quality by the Times Good University Guide.
• Opening a new enterprise centre, Bell Street Ventures, funded by the late William Sword and Santander Universities.
• Making the biggest Scottish climb, and the second biggest UK climb, in the National Student Survey.
• Opening a £5.5m teaching and research space within the School of Design and Informatics.
• Ranking number one in Europe for computer games education by the Princeton Review for the fifth year in a row.
• Being shortlisted in three categories at the national Times Higher Education Awards.

From pioneering games that tackle cystic fibrosis to supporting future entrepreneurs, french kissing research to bagging a gold in judo at the highest level of university sport, we've achieved an awful lot in 2019.
