Nursing image The Division of Nursing and Counselling offers a range of courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level. These include professionally accredited programmes such as BSc (Hons) Nursing and BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing. We also offer Counselling programmes.

The division is committed to promoting interdisciplinary and inter-professional ways of working, and to the development of pathways for facilitating lifelong learning in healthcare practitioners.

We have invested £350,000 to expand the division of nursing and counselling, ensuring that it is up to the challenges of delivering health education and related research in the 21st Century. The new facilities, including offices and teaching spaces, will benefit staff and students working in a wide range of areas from nursing and mental health to psychology and counselling.

The core staff of the division represents a range of health professions: nursing, mental health, psychology and counselling.

As well as full undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes, we also offer a wide range of Continuing Professional Development courses.

The research activity of the division focuses on:

  • research into nurse-led interventions
  • mental health, counselling and well-being.

Our Students

We have a very diverse student group, which includes school leavers and more mature students coming to us from a variety of backgrounds. Student support is taken very seriously by the staff on all our programmes. There are also a number of systems in place to support students during the transition into university life and throughout their time at Abertay.
