The Master in Business Administration course – MBA – is the internationally recognised postgraduate qualification for business leaders. Abertay University offers a range of MBA courses, each offering a grounding in essential business skills and the option to become a specialist in a particular area.
With the turbulence of the recent economic crisis, highly qualified managers with a strong understanding of all aspects of industry have never been more important. Our MBA provides future business leaders with the skills to manage during periods of economic growth and through recessions, and to balance risk and opportunity across your business.
All students on our MBA courses study a core of business and management subjects, including finance, economics, business strategy and human resources. From there, additional general modules can be taken to develop you as a multi-skilled manager, or specialist modules for individual industries can be focussed on.
The specialist options are: Biotechnology, Corporate Finance, Energy and Petroleum, Human Resource Management, Marketing, and Sports Development. These options are suitable both for professionals looking to develop their careers, or for students looking to enter a specialised industry.
The jobs available to graduates of our MBA courses are wide-ranging and challenging. Many of the world's most prominent businessmen and women have an MBA, as it remains the most internationally recognised business qualification for future business leaders.
The possible job positions are far too numerous to list, but MBA graduates typically aim towards senior management, whether that is in the public or private sectors. Many MBA graduates aspire to be Managing Directors or Chief Executives, and many succeed.
The MBA courses on offer at Abertay are:
MBA Master of Business Administration (Full time, Part time & Flexible study)
(including the Corporate Finance, Energy and Petroleum, Human Resource Management, Marketing and Sports Development pathways)
MBA (Biotechnology)
Once you have completed your MBA you can apply for advanced entry to the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) by sitting and passing the CIMA Masters Gateway Assessment (CMGA).
The CMGA is a fast track route to gaining the award of CIMA Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting and will be awarded on passing the three CIMA management level papers. More information is available at the CIMA website.
