As well as the traditional skills of recording, editing and mastering audio, this course will teach you about the enormous range of modern uses for audio production – from producing broadcast quality content, to creating immersive audio worlds for computer games or museum tours.

Abertay's close links to the computer games industry is one avenue students can explore for their own creative productions.

Abertay also has full course accreditation from the Joint Audio Media Educational Services (JAMES), the leading audio industry body. This ensures that our students are working to the standards required by the industry, and have close access to industry expertise.

Sound production course – jobs

The range of jobs open to graduates of the sound production course are enormous, from recording and creating sound effects for films; to producing content for TV, radio or online broadcast; to working in computer games, advertising or the heritage sector.

Audio engineering is never a 'typical' job! But potential job titles for our graduates include Sound Designer, Mixing Editor, Sound Supervisor, Sound Artist, Game Audio Technician, Radio Producer and Studio Manager.
