Undergraduate Funding

Support for Undergraduate study

Scottish students

Support for tuition fees

Scottish undergraduate students studying full-time at a Scottish University benefit from the Scottish government's decision that the Students Awards Agency for Scotland will pay the undergraduate tuition fees for all eligible Scottish domiciled students provided that they are not repeating a period of study, or currently hold a first degree qualification.

Support for living costs

Students from Scotland can apply to the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) for a student loan, plus any available supplementary grants to cover living costs. Applicants must apply online through the SAAS website by the appropriate deadline. Scottish students who do not wish, or are not eligible, to take out a Student Loan and who do not qualify for any other supplementary grants, are still required to complete the SAAS Application Form for tuition fees.

Students studying nursing degrees

Funding arrangements for Nursing students are different to other courses. For students undertaking a degree in Nursing/Mental Health Nursing all students from the UK must apply to the Student Awards Agency for Scotland for the Nursing and Midwifery Students’ Bursary Scheme (NMSB). A non means tested bursary is available to all students from the UK. UK students who are eligible under the Nursing and Midwifery Students’ Bursary Scheme (NMSB) will also have the cost of their tuition fees met.

EU Students

Support for tuition fees

EU undergraduate students studying full-time at a Scottish University benefit from the Scottish government's decision that the Students Awards Agency for Scotland will pay the undergraduate tuition fees for all eligible EU domiciled students provided that they are not repeating a period of study, or currently hold a first degree qualification.

Support for living costs

Generally, support for living costs is not available for EU undergraduate students. However, if you have lived in the UK or have immediate family living or working in the UK, please check the SAAS eligibility criteria and contact our Advisory Service if you require any assistance.

International (non-EU) students

If you are an international student from outside of the EU, then you are likely to pay overseas tuition fee rates and will not be entitled to help with tuition fees or living costs. You will also be expected to have sufficient funds available to cover your tuition fees and living costs prior to starting each academic year.

As an undergraduate student, we understand that you’ll want to know what tuition fee you’ll need to pay in advance. This is why we offer a fee guarantee – the published tuition fee at the time of entry is the same you will pay for each year of your undergraduate degree.

Scholarships and Bursaries

International (non EU) students are not eligible to apply for UK based student support. However, there are a range of scholarships and bursaries available.
