Intro
Water pollution and wasteful use of freshwater make water treatment essential in order to produce water safe for drinking and for use in the food and drink sector. Domestic and industrial activities such as discharge of toxic chemicals, over-pumping of aquifers, use of agrochemicals and household hormone-based compounds, etc are some of today's major causes of water quality degradation. As well as users of water of high quality, these activities also produce wastewaters likely to cause pollution to the natural water environment when discharged without adequate treatment.
This short course examines the types and sources water pollutants and issues relating to the management of wastewaters as well as the recommended solutions or 'best practices'. This course is REHIS accredited.
