Intro

This course is suitable for practitioners within clinical practice who can be supported by a clinical mentor where the clinical skills and competencies can be achieved.  Successful completion of the course and assessment leads to a certificate in cervical cytology and 15 SCOTCAT points at level 8.

  • Anatomy of the breast & cervix
  • What is Breast Awareness?
  • Role of the Breast Care Nurse
  • Scottish Cervical Call-Recall System
  • Cervical Cancer—Detection and management
  • Human Papilloma Virus Immunisation
  • Sexually Transmitted Infections—Recognition and treatment in practice
  • The role of the laboratory


As well as being taught by an experienced facilitator clinical experts deliver some of the inputs on this course, ensuring students are furnished with relevant, up-to-date information.

A visit to a Cytology Lab also takes place during the course.

Qualifications Obtained
Accredited with 15 SCOTCAT points at Level 8 (Diploma level)
