Your application

Once the Accommodation team receives your application, it will be processed in turn.  We know you’ll be anxious, but you can’t speed it up by phoning the office - this only slows down the process, so please try to be patient.

You will be allocated a room based on your age, when you applied and the preferences you have specified. Your offer of accommodation will be sent to you by e-mail if you have applied electronically.  If you would prefer to receive the relevant paperwork by post, please call the Accommodation Office on +44 (0)1382 308059. (Please note that paper applications will only be available once the online application is open)

When you get your accommodation offer sent electronically you will be asked to:

• read and accept the terms of the Occupancy Agreement
• read and accept the terms of our Rules and Conditions and Student Disciplinary Code 
• confirm the intended payment of rent method
• complete a Direct Debit mandate (if this is your preferred payment of rent method)
• make a prepayment of rent or rent in full online (depending on how you plan to pay your rent)

You will also have access to view:

• a leaflet detailing the level of cover contained within the Insurance Policy
• the information sheet for your accommodation - what's supplied and what you need to bring with you
• a copy of the Student Residences Guide
• a copy of the University Personal Safety Handbook

You should read through the occupancy agreement and make sure that you are happy with the offer. If you are unsure ask a parent/guardian to check it for you.  Once you are satisfied that you wish to enter into an occupancy agreement for university accommodation you should accept the occupancy agreement and related terms, confirm your intended rent method and make the relevant rent payment.

Important information about your Occupancy Agreement

The offer you receive from us is a legally binding occupancy agreement which commits you to pay for the full duration of the agreement.

In previous years students have created significant problems for themselves by signing their agreement and incorrectly assuming that it was not binding. You can be offered alternative accommodation from the University’s stock, but no move to private flats or lodging will lead to a waiver of contracted residences fees.

Do not accept the terms of the agreement unless you intend to occupy the accommodation for the full period of the agreement.
