Learner Development Service

The Learner Development Service is part of Student Services, and can help you develop your academic skills. Our role is to provide you with tools to become a more effective learner, and to produce the best work you’re capable of.

We do this in several ways:

  • Our Learning Development Advisers can liaise with your programme tutors to provide support with particular aspects of your course (such as statistical analysis), usually in workshops held throughout the academic year
  • We can work with you individually at our drop-in sessions, or you can contact us
  • We can help you with specific assignments, strategies for studying or just give you reassurance that you’re doing the right things

The prospect of studying for a degree can seem particularly daunting for some students, and so we also run free summer programmes for anyone who wants to get a head start developing key skills:

The Abertay College Transition Programme runs the week before the start of term, and is designed for students who have studied at college and are joining Year 2 or 3 of their degree (although it’s suitable if you’re entering any year). It’s also useful for students returning to education after a break.

If you have any questions or would like more information about how we can help you, please contact us:
