Caitlin Goodale will graduate from Abertay on 7 July with a BA (Hons) in Computer Arts. Brought up on both sides of the Atlantic - Fife and California - she has secured a position in Malmö and will be moving to Sweden after graduation.
I knew I wanted to study a degree that combined both art and technical disciplines. I also loved games, and Abertay had a great reputation in this area. Because the course had Skillset accreditation, I knew my degree was relevant to industry. That employability focus really persuaded me.
I'm moving to Malmö, Sweden, where I've been offered a job at King (makers of Candy Crush, Farm Heroes, Pet Rescue Saga, etc.) as a Junior UX Designer. It's a role that sits between both art and design, so it's perfect for my skill set. I'm so excited to take that next career step and see where it takes me!
I took part in the Eucroma exchange to Copenhagen, spoke at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco and spent a year working for Microsoft in London.
Also, being on a program with a broad range of modules helped me explore the different areas of digital art I was interested in and ultimately led me to my current career path (UX design), so it was definitely the right choice!
