IDEAScotland call for applicants7 August 2013
IDEAScotland has opened its doors for a second-round of applications from digital, technology and creative media start-ups.
Applications can be made at the IDEAScotland website until midnight on Sunday 18th August.
Based in Dundee, IDEAScotland is a collaborative partnership with brightsolid, DC Thomson, University of Abertay Dundee and University of Dundee. The programme provides successful applicants with mentoring on business techniques, introductions to potential customers, business partners and investors, virtual networking and equipment, as well as free workspace.
IDEAScotland’s Innovation Manager Claire MacDonald said: “We are thrilled to be able to open the programme to a second round of applicants. IDEAScotland nurtures and supports ambitious entrepreneurs and innovation, offering applicants bespoke help, expert mentoring, training and business support throughout the programme.
“For those who reach the next phase, there is also the opportunity to receive up to £25,000 in funding from Abertay University’s Prototype Fund allowing them to prototype their solutions and build traction with customers.”
The IDEAScotland programme has three phases: the initial call for applications, and an accelerator and a prototyping phase. The accelerator phase lasts eight weeks and focuses on value proposition and customer discovery, using lean start-up methodology.
Claire added: “The unique collaboration of our partners enables IDEAScotland to add value to fledgling start-ups by combining online learning modules, practical tool sets, business advice, input from expert mentors and tailored workshops to help innovators achieve their potential and make a positive impact.”
At the conclusion of the accelerator phase every company will pitch to enter a 12-week prototyping phase.
The successful companies will receive funding from Abertay University’s Prototype Fund to demonstrate their viability of their product to acquire customers. Companies will then pitch their product and organisation to potential investors to build for scale.
Applications can be made at the IDEAScotland website until midnight on Sunday 18th August.Back to News
