Iain Stewart - BSc Sports Coaching and Development, 2004
What does your current job involve?

My current role at Dundee Academy of Sport as a Teaching Fellow is varied and incredibly enjoyable. I really don’t think, post Commonwealth Games, that there is a better place to work in Scottish sport right now. My work can take me, in the space of a few hours, from delivering a Primary 7 class to a university level tutorial and then to a CPD session for Dundee & Angus College Sports Union clubs. We seek to raise the aspirations of young people so they may consider further and higher education, when previously they may have thought it was ‘not for them’.

What was your most memorable moment as a student?

I was selected to play for the Scottish Universities cricket team and played against the MCC (Marlyebone Cricket Club, the oldest club in the world, which is based at Lord’s - the Home of Cricket). The match was held in Edinburgh and was a great experience. The feeling was almost matched when the Abertay Cricket team won the league that same year! We won all our games, bar one. It was a great team effort. I met many people from other courses and who came from places as far apart as Belfast and Dhaka, Bangladesh!

Do you have any advice for students?

You must have goals and dreams. Be honest with yourself and go for what YOU want and don’t shrink small to appease another person’s world view.
