Statement and aims
The Career Development Centre is here to help with career decision making at any stage, whether you are a current student or a graduate. Our activities are aimed at assisting students to develop their skills in preparation for the transition from University to work. These are carried out through individual appointments and a range of career seminars.
What you can expect:
- individual and confidential careers guidance with an experienced Careers Adviser
- impartial and objective career related advice and guidance
- help in understanding the career options and choices available and the implications of career decisions
- that the information discussed be treated in a confidential and sensitive manner
- help in identifying and developing skills, capabilities, personal values and motivations
- Careers Education Programme of talks and workshops
- well-resourced information base containing unbiased and relevant reference and take-away materials on a wide range of career-related issues
- free access to Funder Finder to help source alternative types of funding
- vacancy information relating to part-time employment
- online Graduate Vacancy Service
What we expect:
- attendance at interviews, presentations or workshops signed up for or advance notice if unable to attend
- users to take responsibility for making their own decisions, researching career choices and career goals
- to treat with respect Careers staff and careers materials made available
- to make the Career Development Centre aware, in advance, of any specialist needs relating to the provision of careers information and guidance
