India visit

Representatives from the University of Abertay Dundee will be in India to discuss applications, specific courses, entry requirements, tuition fees, life in Scotland and conduct spot admission interviews for September 2010 intake.

Professor Mohamed Branine is the Director of Research Degrees and Postgraduate Admissions Tutor in the Dundee Business School (DBS).

His role involves: leading the strategic development of a research environment; the supervision of postgraduate research students and overseeing the quality assurance of the School’s research degrees programme; the development of curriculum and the enhancement of provision and delivery of taught postgraduate programmes; the recruitment and selection of postgraduate students; and the presentation and coordination of the school research activities, including those related to postgraduate research students, with those of other schools within and outside the university.

Dr Phillip J Collier is the Director of Research Degrees and Senior Lecturer in Biotechnology & Microbiology. His degrees are from Manchester Polytechnic (MIBiol by Examination in Microbiology, 1982), Birkbeck College (University of London) (MSc in Microbiology, 1987) and the Victoria University of Manchester (PhD in Pharmaceutical Microbiology, 1989).

He has over 20 years’ academic and research experience in antimicrobials, bacterial resistance mechanisms, biofilms and the microbiology of composting and has written over 50 scientific and general papers on his research interests. Dr Collier is a Chartered Biologist and a Fellow of the Society of Biology, a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Fellow of the Linnaean Society of London.

Mr Victor Bassilious is Senior Lecturer in Computer Science and specialises in Internet and Communication Systems. He is also the Programme Tutor for the Master programme in Internet Computing. Mr Bassilious is involved in internet and web technology research and currently working on intelligent peer-to-peer autonomous agents for Internet aware embedded systems.

Mr Bassilious is the School's coordinator for China and travelled extensively to promote Abertay, managing two major articulation programmes. He has authored and co-authored many scientific papers and supervised over a hundred Masters and PhD students.

Miss Santashree Mitra is the International Recruitment Officer for the Indian Sub-Continent.  Her role involves providing educational agents and prospective students with up-to-date information about the University. She regularly travels to Indian sub-continent to meet with prospective students at education exhibitions and events, and to visit local educational institutes.

Prior to working at University of Abertay Dundee, Santashree has been involved in recruitment at University of Leicester in England. Her background is in Social Sciences and she holds a Masters degree from the University of Leicester, England and a BA (Hons) from the University of Delhi, India.
