The University of Abertay Dundee, founded in 1888 as the Dundee Technical Institute, is a friendly institution with about 4000 students on its city-centre campus. 

The University’s buildings are grouped around its multi-award-winning library and newly completed Student Centre.  The majority of students are from the local area and about 65% are from Scotland.

The University offers a supportive and friendly student environment in its four academic Schools (Faculties): the School of Computing and Creative Technologies, the School of Contemporary Sciences, the Dundee Business School, and the School of Social and Health Sciences. 

The University is especially famous for its world-leading Computer Games Technology degrees and research; its Dundee Business School, which provides highly rated economics and management education, and executive training for Scotland; its Psychology research and teaching programmes; its highly rated Civil Engineering and Biotechnology teaching, and its Environmental Science Research - judged by the UK’s official RAE research audit to be the best of any Scottish university.

Students from the EU have the opportunity to continue to develop their English language skills during their time at Abertay through optional open-access English language support sessions.  Students can also make use of the University’s open-access language learning facilities in French, German, Japanese, Russian, Mandarin (Chinese) and Spanish.
