Hundreds of students based in London will be able to benefit from a University of Abertay Dundee business education, following the signing of a major partnership agreement with London International College.
This will involve students based in London studying for business degrees provided by Abertay University, initially focussing on the prestigious MBA postgraduate qualification. Further expansion to provide undergraduate courses is expected in the future.
Experts from Abertay University’s Dundee Business School will oversee the whole process, which will lead to a full Abertay University degree upon graduation. Students will also have the opportunity to graduate in Dundee alongside other Abertay students.
Professor Heather Tarbert, head of the Dundee Business School at Abertay University, said: “We are delighted to begin this prestigious working relationship with London International College, which will see hundreds of postgraduate students receiving an Abertay University education in London.
“Dundee Business School prides itself on creating strong, independent learners capable of handling complex, challenging business roles. From our flagship MBA to our accountancy, business studies and law courses, all our work is aimed at providing students with the very best start to their business careers.”
Theo Ktorides, Principal of London International College, added: “This agreement is the beginning of a strong working relationship between our two institutions. We’re delighted to be offering the MBA from Abertay University to students based in London.
“Working in close partnership with our colleagues at Abertay University in Dundee will guarantee that more people can receive a high quality business education right in the heart of the UK’s capital. Abertay’s focus on instilling the business qualities needed in real workplaces makes this a very exciting opportunity for our students.”
The new collaboration comes ahead of publication of a Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) final report on Abertay’s long-standing partnership with SEGi University College in Malaysia.
The report, which followed a review of the partnership, is expected to particularly identify the way Abertay's courses help students to realise their potential as independent learners, capable of strong critical thinking and becoming key players in the workplace.
The model of partnership working and continuous staff development from the main Abertay University campus in Dundee is also expected to be positively recognised.
It is hoped that the formal agreement between the University of Abertay Dundee and London International College marks the beginning of a similarly successful relationship between the business-oriented university and the 35 year-old independent college.
Applications to study the Abertay University MBA in London should be made to London International College. Final approval of all applications will be made at Abertay University, which will also oversee all teaching and assessment.
