Kirsty Jean Cable from Westray in the Orkney Isles, has received a £50 gift voucher from Abertay University for being the first new student to complete her online registration.
Food Product Design student Kirsty completed her online registration within an hour of the online task being opened. This was the first year that the University has offered online registration to new students.
Irene Irons, Student Records Officer, said: “We were really keen to test the new online registration system on new students; they had no previous experience of using our system so it would be a really good indication of how easy, or difficult, the process was.
“An e-mail containing instructions was sent to all students at 9.15am, Kirsty was the first new student to complete both stages of the online registration – completing by 10.17am that same day.”
Kirsty said: “It was really easy to register online. It took hardly any time at all and was certainly very convenient for me being that I was in Orkney.”
Irene said: “Students were able to register from home or come into the university to do it. The feedback from students has been really encouraging and it has certainly made major time savings for the staff.”
Kirsty won a £50 gift voucher for the Overgate Shopping Centre and says she plans to spend it on Christmas presents.
