Five Abertay Teams Aim for BUSA Glory
12 February 2008
With a highly regarded Elite Athletes Development Programme that has supported over 30 international athletes in the last three years Abertay University is no stranger to sporting success.
Carrying on that success this year are the five University sports teams that have reached the knock out rounds of the British Universities Sports Association (BUSA) taking place in February and March (2008).
Abertay’s Sports Development Officer Ian Lowe said: “This is great news for Abertay and for the teams who have put so much into this competition.
“The standards are high in the BUSA tournaments and they’ve come up against teams from much larger universities.
“The men’s football team and the women’s hockey team both won their leagues in 2007 so they have set the bar high for this competition.
“Abertay’s teams have a real chance to make it to the finals and be giant killers in three different sports.
“I’m sure everyone at Abertay will wish them well for the next rounds and cheer them on to victory.”
The teams competing in the BUSA knock outs are men’s basketball, football and hockey and women’s football and hockey and fixtures are as follows:
