Great Wall Challenge to Raise Funds for Sense Scotland

NEWS RELEASE
16 January 2008

By the time May rolls around most of us will be looking forward to a lazy summer break with sun, sea and snoozing if we’re lucky.

But big hearted Abertay students Raigan Reid and Paul Wilson will be limbering up for the challenge of a lifetime as they prepare to take on the Great Wall of China to raise funds for Sense Scotland.

Dundonians Raigan and Paul, who are studying Law at the Dundee Business School, will join a group of four for the nine day trip.

And between now and then the group are committed to raising a whopping £11,000 for the deafblind charity.

Raigan said: “My mum is an advisory officer for Sense Scotland and I have helped with a number of fundraising events over the years to support them.

“However, I wanted to be involved in something bigger which would bring in a substantial amount of money to a very worthwhile cause. Trekking the Great Wall of China seemed like a perfect opportunity to do so.

“While we’re there we’ll be trekking between watch-towers and battlements before taking on the 1,000 steps at Mutinaya which I’ve been told are quite a challenge.”

Paul added: “We’ve been planning this fundraising trip since May last year and we’ve just about hit the half way mark.

“There’s only five months to go now and we’re appealing to everyone to give as much as they can to support Sense Scotland.”

To make a donation to Raigan and Paul’s appeal just visit the website at www.justgiving.com/reidchallenge or watch out for events raising money for the cause.
