NEWS RELEASE
9 January 2008
This year, the Scottish Institute for Enterprise (SIE) in association with Channel 4, have launched a new film-making competition, 60 Second Shorts, and students from Abertay are expected to rise to the occasion.
The challenge is to produce a 60 second video on the subject of what it means to be enterprising.
First prize is £500 and the top ten films will be showcased at the SIE National Student Enterprise Summit to a 2000-strong audience of students and representatives from Channel 4, the BBC, Scottish Screen and Entrepreneurial Exchange.
SIE intern Jennifer Wagner said: “This is a fantastic competition which offers a real challenge to anyone who enters. The subject area is so broad you really could let your imagination run wild.”
Her colleague Nazar Atajnov added: “Videos can be submitted in a range of formats including traditional camera shot and mobile phone videos. And the film itself can be CGI, stop motion, finger puppets or cartoons meaning entrants can be as creative as they like.”
The closing date for entries is Friday 22nd February and full details of the competition can be found on the Scottish Institute for Enterprise website at www.sie.ac.uk/60secondshorts/.
Further information is also available from the SIE interns Jennifer Wagner, on 9904501@abertaty.ac.uk, and Nazar Atajnov on 0505321@abertay.ac.uk.
