Abertay Alumni is Olympic Hopeful

A former student of the University of Abertay Dundee is leading the pack of hopefuls aiming for the honour of being an Olympic Torchbearer for the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008.

Ian Ross is taking part in a competition to win the chance to carry the Olympic flame but he’s currently third in the running behind the Columbian and Australian competitors and he needs your votes to make sure his dream doesn’t fizzle out.

Ian completed his MBA through Abertay in 2004 but by then he was already living and working in China.

Now, after just three years in the country, Ian is the only Scot in China with his sights set on the position of Torchbearer and is hot favourite to win.

Ian said: “China is a wonderful and unusual place to work and when the opportunity to do something so unique came along I jumped at the chance.

“Carrying the Olympic Torch would be a great honour. I hope people will log onto the website and vote for me because I’d love to take part in the 2008 Games.”

Voting for the Torchbearers is simple. All you have to do is log on to the website at http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/olympics/torch_page.html and follow the instructions to vote.
