Wise Up to Waste

A seminar will take place in Dundee this week to help local businesses wise up to the potential savings and increased competitive advantage that come with improving environmental performance.
Envirowise is calling on local companies to come along to the University of Abertay Dundee on Thursday 15th March from 9am – 1pm to find out more from a range of experts from Envirowise, The Abertay Centre for the Environment (ACE), Energy Savings Trust and the Carbon Trust. Clear advice will be given to businesses on relevant legislation, top tips for resource efficiency and ways in which businesses can incorporate environmental management into their strategic business plans.
Envirowise Business Manager for Scotland, Alan Hendry said: “Taking action on waste is fast becoming a business imperative. By addressing issues of resource efficiency, companies can expect to save as much as £200 per employee through more effective waste management. With such a potential effect on their bottom line, how can local businesses afford to miss this workshop?”
Mary Cowie, from Abertay Centre for Environment added: “Simple changes to current processes or working practices can reduce environmental costs and improve profitability. The aim of the seminar is to show businesses that such changes can be easy and low, or even no cost, yet they can directly benefit the company and its employees.”
The seminar will offer a series of workshops, followed by a chance to network with other local businesses over a free lunch.
